Tour de Bloc 8: Gravity

Dustin walking problem #4

Last week’s comp at the Gravity Climbing Gym was another great Tour de Bloc competition. With head route setter Jody Miall on premise, we knew we could count on him for some really good finals. Thankfully, we had a great turn out for the competition and the finalists gave a great show! Props to Dustin and Stacey for their extremely convincing win this week (wow!). Dustin, we’re already excited for the next leg at True North Climbing in about a week!

Here are a couple of my favourite pictures from the comp. Visit the Tour de Bloc site or my flickr photostream for more pictures.

Tour De Bloc 7: True North

On the menu for this week’s Photo Monday are some of my best shots from the last leg of the 7th Tour de Bloc. It was held at Toronto’s newest climbing facility: True North. The gym is really impressive! Big spaces, lots of good angles, and very cool textures. It’s definitely worth a visit if you climb in Toronto! The four final problems were set on a huge, spectator-friendly bouldering wall (so cool), and this time around Dustin Curtis teamed up with the tour’s head route-setter, Jody, to set some of the most spectacular problems yet. See for yourself…

Women’s Open Result:

  1. Bonnie de Bruijn
  2. Iyma Lamarche
  3. Marine Cusa

Men’s Open Result:

  1. Tash Zielinski
  2. Ayo Sopeju
  3. Eric Sethna

Superman!
Superman! Again, Ayo did superbly in the finals.

Tash easily finishing up problem #4. This shot is not extra-ordinary, but I wanted to include a shot of Tash in this post because he climbed an amazing final round! In fact, he climbed it so quickly that I couldn’t get a better shot than this one… oh and did you notice the cast on his right ankle?

Chris flying on problem #3
Chris flying on problem #3. Muzzillo is one of the most chill climbers – and so strong! (He placed 5th).

There are more shots on flickr. Make sure you stop by.

Cheers,

Photo Monday: Tour de Bloc 7

So, as I promised last week, here are my favourite shots from the finals of the Tour de Bloc 7 competition in Burlington. Unfortunately, as I warned you last time, indoor climbing shots being what they are, I had to post-process them quite a bit. Hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think.
